This week students have been conducting summative assessments for the first music unit of the school year. The main focus is composition. Grade 2 worked on simple melodic compositions on xylophone using the pentatonic scale (do,re,me,so,la). Grade 3 worked in groups to create boomwhacker compositions. Grade 4 created individual recorder compositions. Grade 5 had the choice of composing alone or in small groups, choice of instrument (recorder, boomwhacker or xylophone) and choice of time signature and form.

Greetings! Ms. Marnie here, your new music teacher! We have had an amazing start to the new school year!! In each and every class we sing, dance or move our bodies, listen to music and play instruments. I am so impressed with the level of enthusiasm and positivity among the ISS elementary students! It is a real pleasure to be teaching here and I look forward to amazing year ahead of making beautiful music together :).
In all music classes we have been conducting pre-assessments to see where we are with our musical skills and knowledge.
