This week students have been conducting summative assessments for the first music unit of the school year. The main focus is composition. Grade 2 worked on simple melodic compositions on xylophone using the pentatonic scale (do,re,me,so,la). Grade 3 worked in groups to create boomwhacker compositions. Grade 4 created individual recorder compositions. Grade 5 had the choice of composing alone or in small groups, choice of instrument (recorder, boomwhacker or xylophone) and choice of time signature and form.
